Vanessa Trump reveals early signs of ‘very invasive’ breast cancer, mulls treatment
The first sign that Vanessa Trump was battling “very invasive” breast cancer was her “extreme fatigue,” the 48-year-old revealed in a new interview.
As she sat down with her daughter Kai and Dr. Nicole Saphier for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Trump recalled feeling “extremely tired” — even doing something as simple as a Starbucks run — in the six months before her diagnosis.
Trump, who is cancer-free after his “MRI results came back clear,” noted in Saturday’s video that fatigue is “hard to detect” in patients because it’s “a normal symptom for a mother.”
The survivor also gave a rare insight into her treatment for invasive ductal carcinoma, saying she underwent a lumpectomy, defined by the Mayo Clinic as surgery to remove a tumor and a small rim of healthy breast tissue.
She also underwent three-stage radiotherapy treatment.
Trump, whose cancer was caused by environmental, not genetic, factors, noted that going forward she would have exams three to four times a year for the next five to 10 years.
She promoted the interview in an Instagram post on Sunday, reflecting on her “long and difficult” journey with the disease.
In the caption, Trump wrote that she was “incredibly grateful” for the “love and support” she received amid her health struggles.
“By sharing my story, I hope to encourage others to prioritize their health, plan for their screenings, and understand the importance of early detection,” she told her followers.
“If sharing my experience encourages even one person to get checked, it’s worth it,” she continued.
Trump concluded the social media upload with information about donating to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
The carousel included two photos of Trump and Kai, the eldest of her five children with ex-husband Donald Trump Jr.
Additionally, she shared a smiling photo of herself, boyfriend Tiger Woods and Kai, 18, standing in front of a bell and a colorful “Congratulations” banner.
Vanessa went public with her battle with cancer in May, revealing she had been diagnosed a month prior.
“While this is not news that anyone would expect, I am working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “I remain focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, children and loved ones.”
Vanessa said she recently underwent a “procedure.”
In June, she described spending “four weeks recovering from surgery” and said she was “healing and moving forward” with phase two of her treatment.
The following month, Kai told Page Six that his mother was “doing great.”
