Warhammer Tone Pro: One painting, many techniques
The new Warhammer Tone Pro Paints are in stores starting Saturday. Yesterday we looked at the 1-5 system, and today we’re learning more about how they can be used for any painting technique.

Warhammer Tone Pro can be used with any painting style and for just about any technique. Applying a base coat is very quick thanks to the high coverage of the paint and you get really strong coats in just one or two applications. Coverage isn’t just good for the base coat, it’s also good for the layers: you’ll get really consistent highlights because you keep the same opacity across the entire thumbnail.
The new paints mix very well and can be used for stippling. The pigmentation and flow properties of Tone Pro mean that you get even a smooth finish, even when you dry brush – you don’t get that powdery look that you can sometimes get when dry brushing.

There are four new dry brushes to help you with this particular technique. They are each synthetic with a flat, tapered tip on the edge to give a really smooth application of paint. Available in extra small, small, medium and large sizes, there is one for every part of your miniatures.
Two new mediums further increase the flexibility of 150 Tone Pro paints. Shading Medium turns any paint into a shade, changing the flow property so that it acts like the Warhammer Color shade paints you’re used to. Since you are adding the medium to the paint, you can easily adjust its strength. This means that you can also use glazing paints, which work very well thanks to their excellent pigment.

There is also Blending Medium, which extends the drying time of Tone Pro paints. This makes mixing colors on the miniature easier, giving you the results you want without having to worry about the paint drying too quickly.
You can try the new paints when they hit shelves on Saturday. Find out where your nearest store is:
