Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks have gotten into plenty of scuffles during their respective careers, and they clashed Monday in the Golden State Warriors-Phoenix Suns game.
Green began the sequence that ultimately led to his ejection by throwing Suns big man Khaman Maluach to the ground. Brooks disputed this and approached Green, causing the Warriors forward to grab his opponent’s jersey near the throat:
The Michigan State product received two technical fouls and was ejected.
That it was Brooks and Green who went for it is probably no surprise to NBA fans.
After all, Brooks led the league in technical fouls last season, while Green wasn’t far behind in third. They both have reputations as players who never shy away from talking and playing with a physical approach on the defensive end, and that carried over into Monday.
They also have a story.
“I don’t like Draymond at all,” Brooks said in a 2023 report from ESPN’s Tim Keown. Keown notably added that Green “laughed and chose to pass up the opportunity to respond.”
But he has since responded by calling Brooks an “idiot” and an “asshole” on multiple occasions.
They’re clearly still not fans of each other if Monday’s fight was any indication, and it also wouldn’t be a surprise if Green had something to say about it in his next podcast.
And that will only set the stage for the next showdown when the Warriors take on the Suns on December 28.
