RotoBaller writer Jamie Calandro shares his Week 8 fantasy football lineup rankings for RB, WR, TE and QB. Last year, Jamie finished third in the most accurate industry rankings among hundreds of other industry experts! This rankings article also includes rankings analysis that will hopefully help you make tough sit/start decisions. Jamie is also on X @jac3600 and our RotoBaller Discord channel, answering questions.

Regular starting options are included to highlight that some of your must-play players have a good chance of providing winning totals. Much of the analysis helps fantasy players make difficult decisions between two or more players of similar value.

Rankings are updated as news breaks until the full list begins on Sunday. By following the positioning tips below, you can view player ranking tables. Fantasy football roster ranking analysis is based on half-PPR scoring rules.

Quarterback Rankings – Fantasy Football Week 8

The top of the QB list is pretty standard, but there are some fun mid-tier QBs that are on the radar. Jacoby Brissett dominates them against Dallas, who has allowed the eighth-most FPPG and third-best passer rating. It’s only a matter of time before Carson Beck takes over for this Cardinals team, but this isn’t the week he deals with backfield issues.

Kyler Murray is the QB32 of the season, which makes one wonder if they will continue to start him even if they are the last undefeated team. Despite his play, I’m optimistic that this week he can finally put some scores in the cards. The Lions are a versatile defense for opposing offenses, allowing the most FPPGs to QBs.

I’m hesitant to start Caleb Williams this week despite the fact that he’s in the pantheon of “set it and forget it” QBs. The game in Seattle is no joke, as evidenced by how they thwarted the Chiefs for three points at home last Sunday night. If Caleb is your only option, there are definitely worse ones, but I’d rather stream the two guys above on him.

Baker Mayfield needed just 11 passes in last week’s run- and defense-driven blowout of Carolina. I think this will still be their home game plan in this divisional matchup, but Mayfield is primed to be more successful against the Falcons, who have allowed the tenth FPPG to QBs. He’s on the streaming radar.

Running Back Rankings – Fantasy Football Week 8

Breece Hall seems more likely to return this week against the Raiders, but Braelon Allen has certainly earned himself a role based on his play. Allen has averaged the third-most yards after contact in his last four starts, making both FLEX-worthy against a Raiders team allowing 5.2 YPC and the sixth-most FPPG to RBs.

Rhamondre Stevenson runs very inefficiently, but he took over as the primary receiver against the Jets last week with five catches for 93 yards and a score. With AJ Brown hitting again, I could see a similar role, and the Dolphins have also allowed the third-most FPPG to RBs.

Ollie Gordon II has been very impressive for the Finns since taking over from De’Von Achane, but this might be the week to find someone better. Its effectiveness is not lasting; the Patriots are allowing less than 4.0 YPC, and he’s not involved in the passing game at all.

With Tyjae Spears out, Tony Pollard significantly increased his trade stock with 129 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 28 touches. It’s a tough matchup against Cincinnati, but he’ll have the backfield to himself again as the Titans abuse this potential trade chip.

Jordan Mason immediately took over the Vikings backfield and Aaron Jones Sr. was dealing with a knee injury earlier this week (but is not on the final injury report). You start Mason in this athletic competition game, but keep in mind there are downsides if Detroit posts big offensive numbers. Mason won’t be used in the passing game if the play script goes wrong.

Jonah Coleman looks ready to take over Denver’s backfield, but I’m still waiting another week to see him in this tough game against Kansas City. …Kyren Williams is obvious, but it’s also another FLEX week that can kick off for Blake Corum. The Rams are favored over a home TD, and the Chargers allow the ninth-most FPPG to RBs.

Wide Receiver Rankings – Fantasy Football Week 8

Michael Wilson isn’t the Michael Wilson of a year ago, but he’s still on the WR3/FLEX scene against Dallas, which allowed the eighth-most FPPG against WRs. Wilson still gets targets even though Trey McBride is by far the best option in this offense.

Rashee Rice is back for the Chiefs and should immediately be slotted into your lineup against a Denver team that is still struggling in the secondary. KC desperately needs playmakers in the passing game. …As of this writing, Carnell Tate has been ruled out. Wan’Dale Robinson has been horrible this season (WR54), but Cincinnati is the best matchup in the league for slot WRs, and Robinson’s target share should increase significantly. I start it wherever I need a replacement.

The 38.5 O/U from the Pittsburgh/Cleveland game isn’t that enticing, but the Browns still allowed the 11th FPPG to WRs. DK Metcalf and Germie Bernard play almost every snap at WR in what has become a very focused offense. Both are starts.

DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks were both ruled out for the second week in a row. Makai Lemon took advantage of his opportunity with a 7-67-1 record against the Cowboys. Washington’s secondary is just as shifty, especially when it comes to WR placement. … Jameson Williams has back-to-back top-10 finishes at WR, but I’m still very wary of starting him this week. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s game is set up well to beat Minnesota’s blitz, but Williams’ 14.9 aDOT is not.

Jaylen Waddle hasn’t done anything since Week 2 and is now injured. You must bench him until further notice. You can even drop it if someone else (Lemon, Wan’Dale) is available to stream this week. … Omar Cooper Jr. has a 92% catch rate and 19.1 aDOT over his last two weeks. It’s not sustainable long term, but he’s still a good start against the Raiders.

Ryan Flournoy has three straight WR2 finishes and is finding a role in this Dallas offense even though CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are the top two. He is in play at the FLEX spot against Arizona. … Rome Odunze should be swallowed up by Seattle’s perimeter coverage.

Tight Rankings – Fantasy Football Week 8

The tight end looks suspiciously thin this week, and now Colston Loveland finds himself as a late addition to the injury report. Brenton Strange has seven or more targets in three straight games and has now moved into second place on the team in targets. The Colts are running around selling players, so play with all your Jaguars.

All of the Bucs failed in their first game without Emeka Egbuka, but Cade Otton is still on the radar. Atlanta has allowed the 11th FPPG to opposing TEs, and Otton leads all Bucs pass catchers in Mayfield targets this year. …Hunter Henry is another player who moved up the ranks this week. AJ Brown appears to be in danger of missing another game, and Henry has double-digit fantasy points in four straight games. The Dolphins allowed the second FPPG to move into this position.

Chig Okonkwo might be the best second option with Terry McLaurin’s injury for the Commanders, as he has posted back-to-back weeks as a top 15 TE with a 17% target share. …I was all about Tyler Higbee last week with Davante Adams out, but oh well. He, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen all seem to fit more into the 12 and 13 personnel as blockers.
