White Sox apparently trying to make Keepers sad and sleepy with workout music playlist

The White Sox didn’t really play practice music during the Guardians’ practice Tuesday at Rate Field.

Seemingly trying to play mind games with their playoff opponent, the Sox’ crack music team played sad, slow, sleepy tunes as the Guardians prepared for Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Wednesday (3 p.m., TBS, truTV, 1000-AM).

The playlist began, fittingly, with “End Of The Road” by Boyz II Men. The Guardians are down 2-0 in the best-of-five series. This continued with The Sundays’ “Here’s Where the Story Ends”, Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day” and REM’s “Everybody Hurts”.

The playlist switched to the soothing sounds of Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply,” Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait,” and the Cranberries’ “Linger.” The songs were then accompanied by Sox season highlights on the center field video board. It was practically sensory overload for the poor Guardians.

The Sox also played “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” by the Crash Test Dummies, “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton, “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer and “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol.

This wasn’t the first time the Sox tried to play a Cleveland team. In April 2002, the stadium’s music director welcomed Cleveland pitcher Chuck Finley with Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again,” a reference to Finley’s divorce from actress Tawny Kitaen, who starred in the rock group’s videos. The Sox fired the director the next day.
