Why JPMorgan CEO Jamie is concerned about large global budget deficits
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase (JPM), still sees rising U.S. deficits as a major risk.
This is one of the main risks mentioned on Tuesday in the publication of the bank’s results, alongside “persistent inflation” and a “rise in asset prices”.
Dimon told Yahoo Finance during a media call that he “wouldn’t use the word most concerned” to describe his views on large deficits compared to other economic risks he mentioned.
However, Dimon continued: “I think these global deficits are a global problem. They haven’t gone down, and you know, that includes China and Europe and other countries and things like that. And I don’t know when and how that might be felt. I just think it creates another source, you know, of potential risk. So the change, you know, it also changes the supply and demand of capital, which you see both there and (with) AI.”

JPMorgan reported mixed second-quarter results. The final result is lower than estimates, but it gives a more optimistic outlook for 2027 than some had expected.
Stocks pared their losses in response.
