Wired mic waiver and FAAB tips for Week 7: Target Omar Cooper, JJ McCarthy and more
I’m not going to sugarcoat it: this is not the week to spend your FAAB budget on a single player. Especially if you need immediate production at the running back position…you’re probably better off trying to make a trade after this one rather than spending down the wire. There were no major injuries, and I would expect most of the guys who stood up to see their role diminish next week as the starters return.
That being said…there are still some intriguing names here that I would look to pick up. Especially when it comes to very promising young pass catchers.
For your information, the following players are listed by position, NOT the order in which I would attack them on the waiver wire. Each player’s breakdown comes with guidance from the FAAB, tailored specifically to your league format. I’ve also added guidance from the FAAB for Guillotine Leagues™️. As always, our Guillotine League content is powered by Mike’s Harder, helping you avoid the lemons and the chopping block every week.
All of this FAAB data comes from our industry-leading Waiver Wire tool, available to all premium subscribers. Check it out if you want full customization of settings. You can even sync your league directly across multiple platforms!
Without further ado, let’s get to the heart of the matter.

Quarterbacks
JJ McCarthy | NYG
List: 13%
McCarthy entered the game in the 4th quarter with 11 minutes left and set the world on fire.
243 passing yards
26 yards rushing
1 TD (and 1 INT)
Believe it or not, those 243 passing yards by McCarthy in an 11-minute span were the most of any QB in NFL history. He finished with 0.22 EPA per drop, putting him at QB5 this week. Will JJ take the starting position after this performance? That remains to be seen, but I’m definitely intrigued.
I’m not going to tell you to pick up McCarthy in your 1QB leagues just yet… but if you’re into superflex, he’s absolutely worth a look.
FAAB advice:
Basic league (team 10-12):
Great League (14-16 team):
- 1QB: 7.5%
- Superflex: 52.5%
