Witcher 3 Remastered patch addressing ‘various lighting adjustments’ deployed
Since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launched earlier this week, the debate around lighting changes – whether it’s too bright or washed out – has continued. Now, CD Projekt Red has rolled out a patch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version of the game, which among other things makes “various lighting adjustments.”
CD Projekt Red announced the release of The Witcher 3 patch on social media, noting the following changes:
- Fixed an issue where DLSS was not available in the Xbox Play Anywhere version of the game on PC
- Various lighting adjustments, including fixing some interiors that seemed too dark
- Various other adjustments have been made to ensure parity with the PC version

There are a number of factors that seem to contribute to The Witcher 3 Remastered’s seemingly increased brightness. One of the biggest offenders seems to be the Bloom setting, which you can disable on PC but not on console – perhaps this update fixes that. Graphics flourishes like path tracing and HDR exacerbate the problem.
CD Projekt Red also said it was preparing a fix for the PC version regarding a game saving issue and that it was continuing to “investigate issues you report through our technical support portal.” He thanks players for their patience and for reporting any issues they encounter.
The Witcher 3 Remastered significantly refreshes the game, with a more than superficial visual refresh as well as numerous animation improvements, as well as notable changes to gameplay and quality of life. What’s more, it’s free for anyone who already owns a version of the game. Everything is being done to prepare for – remarkably – a third expansion for the game, called Songs of the Past, which should be released next year.
