Thanks to an email from Chaos Vault, the Odds and Ends Commander deck has been announced to release on Monday, September 28. Now, not only has this information been officially confirmed, but Wizards has revealed an additional product available through Chaos Vault. If you’re a fan of basic lands with fancy artwork, this might be for you.

As part of the launch of the Odds and Ends Commander deck, Wizards is releasing five distinct versions of a product called Strange Lands. As the name suggests, each product consists entirely of basic lands, each comprising 10 basic lands of a specific type.
All five options are available for purchase as non-foil for $29.99 each, or as foil for $39.99 each. Although this pricing presentation is fairly standard, this time there is an additional special promotion. For every three copies of The Oddlands that a player purchases, they will receive one of its products completely free, whichever is cheaper. This is a treat for those looking to add a lot of style to their Commander decks.
Overall, like most secret lairs of the past, The Oddlands has had its fair share of complaints from players who don’t want to shell out money just for the basics. The good news, at least, is that these bases might still have some value. After all, earlier this year My Little Pony: Lands of Equestria Secret Lair was released, and a single base Plains still costs $8. If this is true for these lands, these secret lairs could be a gold mine, but that is not a certainty.
Obviously, it’s impossible to know exactly what the price of these new bases will be, but players seem to like the art for the most part. The most resounding complaint actually seems to relate specifically to the forest, which, thanks to the emphasis on red colors, looks like a mountain at first glance. Some other players who admire the art still aren’t big fans of these lands as game pieces, which isn’t too surprising given how over-the-top the artwork is.
Still, these brightly colored basics have plenty of appeal, and if you’re interested in purchasing them, they go on sale Monday, September 28.
