Woman dead, baby seriously injured after plunging from Bronx apartment; police are looking for her ex-boyfriend
A 23-year-old woman and a baby plunged from a New York apartment on Tuesday, leaving the woman dead and the baby in critical condition.
An NYPD spokesperson said the incident happened early Tuesday morning at 2550 Olinville Avenue in the Bronx.
The spokesperson said that when they arrived, the woman and baby had “injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position.”
The mother, who police have not identified, and her baby were taken to a nearby hospital. The 23-year-old young woman died from her injuries while the baby – less than a year old and a girl, according to police sources – remains in critical condition.
There have been no arrests at this time, according to the spokesperson, and the investigation continues.
It is not yet known whether the mother-daughter pair fell, jumped or were pushed out of the building.
However, NYPD detectives are looking to question the 23-year-old woman’s ex-boyfriend, according to police sources. The sources did not name the man they are looking for.
Witnesses reported hearing a noise in the woman’s apartment before she fell, according to the sources.
Police sources said there was a history of domestic violence at the woman’s address.
It is unclear how high the woman and baby were before they plunged to the ground.
