Michella Giunta spent years lifting weights, but didn’t realize her stubborn belly fat wasn’t a gym problem

Michella eventually stopped asking questions and assumed it was just her “body type.”

But she told her 220.7K followers on TikTok and 43.9K on Instagram that her life had completely changed in recent weeks.
The young woman said she has been lifting weights for four years and has lost 20 pounds since January. Yet her abdomen still looked massive every time she looked in the mirror.

Michella often took photos and videos to track her progress at the gym, completely unaware of what was really happening in her body.
She finally realized that her bulging belly wasn’t a fitness problem.

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops on or inside an ovary. Although many are harmless and resolve on their own, some can grow large enough to cause symptoms or complications.

Although Michella has sometimes referred to her growth as a “tumor,” the two terms are not interchangeable because ovarian cysts are not necessarily cancerous tumors.
“I’ve been lifting for years and fighting this tumor. So it’s really squashed in there, but unfortunately it’s real,” she said.

For the longest time in her life, Michella felt like she was nine months pregnant, even when she wasn’t working out.
“So, honestly, I think I’m kind of superhuman,” she added.
“It’s the size of a huge watermelon,” she said of the 18-pound ovarian cyst.
The TikToker revealed that the ovarian cyst weighed 18 pounds and took up almost her entire abdomen.
“From what I can tell, these are my organs,” she explained, pointing to a thin lining above her stomach.
“As you can see, I literally only have a 20 percent tumor,” she added, giving measurements of the growth: 35 centimeters long, 24 centimeters wide and 14 centimeters thick.

The content creator said the cyst pushed his organs upward, taking up space throughout his abdomen and expanding toward his ribcage.
She also showed the mass from different angles, explaining that it was compressing her organs.
“It’s the size of a huge watermelon,” she said.
The young woman launched a ‘gender reveal’ for her cyst, which she affectionately called ‘Boink’
Despite the disconcerting discovery of what was inside her body, Michella managed to find some humor in the situation. She threw a gender reveal party for her cyst, which she affectionately calls “Boink.”
For the “reveal,” she asked a bakery to choose a gender for the mass, and she would find out when she opened the cake.
The bakery decided the final verdict was “twins.”
“To be honest, my tumor is pushing up my organs as much as a full-term pregnancy with twins. So it’s actually very fitting,” she joked about the cake.

She added that, in theory, twins were her worst nightmare and ultimately decided that Boink was a boy.
Michella eventually underwent surgery to remove the huge cyst. It contained more than eight liters of liquid and weighed just over 18 pounds.
However, the procedure also involved the removal of her left ovary and left fallopian tube.
“And apparently they found endometriosis all over my stomach, which worries me because I don’t feel any pain,” she added.
The woman said the operation went without complications.
When Michella came through the surgery, she felt like she was truly “living” for the first time.

After years of dealing with an enlarged abdomen and trying to figure out what was wrong, Michella can finally hope to live without the added weight and discomfort of the huge cyst.
“I feel like this is my first time. I’ve only known a lifetime of pain and discomfort, and I literally had no idea!!!” she wrote on Instagram.

“I was talking to a woman yesterday who had a very similar experience,” shared another. “Right now, women’s bodies are more alien to humanity than the surface of Mars.”
One said bluntly, “These doctors need to be canceled.”
“I would sue for negligence,” wrote another.
“The American healthcare system is so disappointing,” one user commented online.
