Trump condemns “terrible” attack and says US plans to join Saudi Arabia’s attacks on Houthis.

Saudi Arabia has accused Yemen’s Houthis of killing at least 12 people and wounding 300 others in a third attack on Riyadh’s international airport this week.

The victims on Saturday included four Saudis, two people from Bangladesh and one person each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt, Saudi civil aviation authorities said.

It was the deadliest attack in the kingdom in more than a decade.

It came as Yemen’s war intensifies, with the Houthis battling forces aligned with the internationally recognized government for control of the country. Saudi Arabia is waging an air campaign against the Houthis to support the Yemeni government’s ground war against the Iran-backed group.

Here’s a look at the global reaction:

UNITED STATES

US President Donald Trump called the attack “terrible” and said he would “speak” soon with Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He also said he was evaluating whether the United States should join the war against the Houthis.

“It’s possible. We will think about it. We have just learned of the recent attack, so we will make a decision. We will act very quickly,” he said.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, meanwhile, said the Houthi attack killed an American and called for an end to “these reprehensible attacks.”

“We stand with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people and extend our condolences to the victims and their families,” he wrote on X.

The United Nations

Hans Grundberg, the U.N. special envoy for Yemen, said the deadly strikes on Saudi Arabia’s civilian airports represented “a serious escalation.”

“Such actions pose a serious threat to regional security, perpetuate cycles of violence and further complicate peace efforts in Yemen,” he said in a statement.

Egypt

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its “strong condemnation” of the Houthi attacks, denouncing their “flagrant violation” of international law, and the “disregard” for the security of citizens that they entail.

Qatar

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Houthi attacks, calling them “a serious violation of Saudi sovereignty and a direct threat to the security of the region, the safety of civilians, civilian installations and air navigation.”

He expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and said Doha supports “all legitimate measures” that the kingdom “takes to preserve its sovereignty, security and the safety of its territories.”

Pakistan

Pakistan also strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous act of terrorism” and a “grave threat to regional peace and security.”

Pakistan’s foreign ministry said Islamabad – which recently activated a mutual defense pact with Riyadh following the attacks – “expresses unwavering solidarity” with Saudi Arabia.

Jordan

King Abdullah of Jordan offered his condolences to King Salman of Saudi Arabia and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the attacks and expressed his kingdom’s full solidarity with Riyadh.

The country’s foreign ministry condemned the Houthis’ “brutal aggression,” calling it a “dangerous escalation” and a “blatant violation of international law.”

Oman

The sultanate also denounced the attack and stressed “the need to prioritize the voice of wisdom and restraint, and avoid actions that would expand the scope of escalation, in order to preserve the security and stability of the region.”

Palestine

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry declared “full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” and said it supports “all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents.”

Japan

The Japanese Embassy in Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Houthis’ repeated attacks, saying assaults on civilians “can under no circumstances be tolerated.”
