WoW Forever Beta Extended Until Friday, Name Reservations Go Live Tuesday

The World of Warcraft Forever beta has been incredibly popular, but like any other, it must end as we approach full launch. Fortunately, Blizzard has extended the beta for a few days.

The WoW Forever beta was supposed to end yesterday, October 20, but Blizzard announced on X/Twitter that it would extend the experience by three days. Now, the beta will end on October 23 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. After the end, Blizzard will open name reservations on October 27, allowing you to reserve names for three different characters – just make sure they don’t break the rules.

It’s easy to forget that WoW Forever isn’t just out Already. Since the beta went live in September, people have been playing it constantly, and among beta players alone, a million characters have already been created. Blizzard developers even said they were surprised by the number of people flocking to the temporary test version of the Classic+ game mode.

Once the full game releases on November 4, all you’ll need to play WoW: Forever is an active subscription or friend code (although this is only temporary), so it will likely be even more popular.

Fans have appreciated how closely the beta content so far has stayed true to the spirit of early World of Warcraft. Blizzard has made it a point to avoid adding certain modern quality of life improvements, like shared marking, in order to maintain that classic feel. But, rather than strictly avoiding adding anything that was added after WoW’s expansions began, Blizzard included content like the beloved “Kyle’s Gone Missing” quest that takes place in Mulgore.

Of course, there have been controversies too – WoW wouldn’t be without them. Blizzard has had to crack down hard on the sale of gold, and the company has also been strict with character names. We’ve even seen people annoy other players by putting out campfires where new players spawn so that they die before the intro cutscene ends.

If you haven’t had a chance to jump into the beta yet, you still have a few days to do so. But keep in mind that any progress you make will be deleted when the game launches in a few weeks.
