Xbox reportedly set to officially name The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel next month
Microsoft is reportedly set to officially announce the full name of The Elder Scrolls as early as next month.
A new report from The Verge suggests that Xbox Company (11,896 articles)” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/xbox/”>Xbox Company is preparing to officially confirm the game’s title soon.
The game is believed to be called Elder Scrolls 6 (80 articles)” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/elder-scrolls-6/”>The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, and the announcement could be planned around the 15th anniversary of the previous Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim, which takes place on November 11.
The report also cited sources who revealed where Sentinel would take place (spoilers to follow below), but said this should not be revealed at the same time as the game’s title.
Sentinel is believed to take place in Hammerfell, which previously appeared in The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfell, The Elder Scrolls Online and 1998 PC (13,156 items)” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/pc/”>PC action-adventure game The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard.
The report claims that the game will look into the history of the Elder Scrolls and help uncover their secrets.
If the claimed setting is true, it would fit with previous fan theories that The Elder Scrolls 6 would take place around Iliac Bay and Sentinel City. Iliac Bay is a body of water that separates High Rock and Hammerfell, while Sentinel is a region within Hammerfell itself.
Last month, former Bethesda Softworks (942 articles)” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/zenimax-media/bethesda-softworks/”>Bethesda veteran Bruce Nesmith – who was the lead designer on Skyrim and quest designer on Fallout 3, 4 and 76 – said he hoped the theories were true, as it would potentially lead to the possibility to use boats and explore water for the first time in the series.
“By setting Elder Scrolls VI in Iliac Bay, you’re setting yourself up for a big expansion in shipping, and even if you never go underwater, think about all the things you could do above water,” he told GoHumanize.
“That could be really cool. We could have entire skill trees that let you walk on water or boats that let you do more than just sail your boat. There could be all sorts of unique creatures and spells that could work with water as well.
“To me, that would be an opening that you would really take advantage of, because there’s a lot there and I think it would also be really exciting for the team that’s working on it.”
