Zach Bryan dons a ‘Free Palestine’ t-shirt during a concert at Gillette Stadium
Following Robert Kraft’s campaign against Macklemore, Zach Bryan made a statement with his performance at Gillette Stadium.
During Friday’s stop at the Kraft-owned venue for its With the sky lit tour, the Grammy winner took the stage wearing a “Free Palestine” t-shirt after Kraft and other venue owners pressured Ed Sheeran to exclude Macklemore from his tour because of his outspoken support for the Palestinians.
With another performance scheduled in Massachusetts on Saturday night, it remains to be seen whether Kraft will pull the plug.
The show comes after Ed Sheeran was forced to cancel his shows at Gillette Stadium last weekend amid a nor’easter heading to Boston, despite giving in to Kraft’s demands.
Sheeran excluded Macklemore from his tour last month, amid an outcry over onstage remarks from the tour opener, “Free Palestine.” Choosing to remain publicly neutral on the matter, Sheeran later released a statement saying it was the “promoter’s decision” after Kraft rounded up several tour venues to give him an ultimatum.
Following this statement, fellow tour openers Finneas, Aaron Rowe and Lukas Graham dropped out of the tour, along with Sheeran’s backing band Beoga.
Meanwhile, Macklemore last week announced the Free Palestine Tour, which “supports the Palestinian people and movement”, which will take place October 26-30 in Dublin, Paris and London. He has since announced that the tour was “immediately sold out.”
