“Zeus” Choi Woo-je fails to reach agreement on contract renewal with Hanwha Life before Worlds
It has been confirmed that “Zeus” Choi Woo-je of Hanwha Life Esports rejected the club’s contract renewal proposal before the start of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship (hereinafter Worlds). However, his contract remains valid until mid-November, leaving the possibility of a renewal to be agreed before the FA market opens.
According to Inven’s report on the 2nd, Choi Woo-je rejected the renewal after changing agents. Choi is reportedly looking to test his worth in the FA market.
Hanwha Life is not the only team conducting contract renewal negotiations ahead of Worlds. It is customary for other teams to also hold preliminary renewal discussions with their players before the World Cup.
Hanwha Life was eliminated during the Swiss stage of the World Cup on the 1st. Competing for a place in the quarterfinals against BLG of the LPL, they lost 0-2.
Industry insiders expect Choi Woo-je to be the biggest prize this offseason if he enters the FA market. After winning the MSI and stopping on the threshold of the Worlds quarterfinals, Hanwha Life now finds itself forced to resolve the future of its key player early in planning for next season.
A representative from Hanwha Life Esports said: “We are continually in discussions with the player.”
