12-year-old girl killed in Baltimore shooting sparked by apparent parking dispute
A 12-year-old girl was killed and three others injured when gunfire erupted Saturday amid an apparent argument over parking in a Baltimore park, officials said.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said two armed men were being sought and two rounds of ammunition from different weapons were found at the scene after the shooting near Leon Day Park.
“What we know is that there was some sort of argument between two cowards, and of course they both opened fire on each other,” the commissioner said at a press conference Saturday evening. “In exchanges of fire, a 12-year-old little girl, who was probably there watching a football match, was shot and killed.”
Baltimore police said in a statement that a 25-year-old woman and two men, aged 23 and 28, were also struck. The woman was with the girl, Worley said.
Worley said the adult victims had non-life-threatening injuries.
The commissioner said: “The dispute most likely arose over a stupid parking space. »

Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott expressed disgust at the situation and likened the gunmen to cowards at the evening news conference.
“Two men, or so-called men, got into an argument, and now this baby is gone,” he said.
Coach Mark Brown of the Charm City Buccaneers youth soccer league said the gunfire erupted mid-game.
“Some foreigners caused this situation,” he told NBC affiliate WBAL-TV at the scene. “It wasn’t us.”
He said the youth league had been operating for 29 years without such a thing happening. “We strive to give back to the youth,” he said.
He added: “This happened in a parking space. It was avoidable.”
