
18-year-old victim identified in fatal shooting in area of Hardeeville High School football game
HARDEEVILLE, Sc. (WTOC) – The Jasper County Coroner’s Office says 18-year-old Travis Brown was shot and killed Friday in the Hardeeville Middle and Middle School area.
As WTOC reported Friday evening, the Hardeeville Police Department confirmed it was a homicide investigation when the shooting occurred in the area of Red Dam Road and Bus Loop Road.
The Hardeeville Police Department said the incident was not related to any school-sponsored event, activity or function.
A football game was being played between Hardeeville High School and Ridgeland Secondary Academy for Excellence when shots rang out.
Friday night, police said about 300 to 400 people were at the game and the school was on lockdown when officers responded. It was lifted shortly after midnight.
“Detectives with the Hardeeville Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances of the incident,” they wrote Saturday evening. “The Hardeeville Police Department would like to thank the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the response and ongoing investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact HPD or submit an anonymous tip as the investigation remains active and ongoing.

The coroner’s office said Brown was transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital and pronounced dead from his injuries.
