
2 men dead, several others shot in Vienna mass shooting, coroner says
VIENNA, Ga. (WALB) — Two people died and 35 others were injured in a mass shooting in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 4, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Coroner Brett Walls confirms that two men died, a 20-year-old and a 23-year-old. Their families have been informed, but they have not been identified at this time as the situation remains under investigation.
According to preliminary information from the GBI, deputies with the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling around 1:25 a.m. Sunday at a block party when they said shots were fired from the 900 block of Pine Street. Officers responded and found several people had been shot. Officers also found the two men dead nearby in the 600 block of Pine Street. The victims of the shooting were taken to several different hospitals in the area, GBI says.
The bodies of the victims will be turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for autopsies.
