2026 F1 Mexican Grand Prix starting grid with Verstappen penalty
The penalties imposed on Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson for their collision during testing are the main penalties on the grid for the 2026 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix.
Verstappen moves from fourth to fifth as a result of the decision, while Lawson was initially expected to move from eighth to ninth.
He will now start much lower than that as he was excluded from the qualifying results entirely for an MGU-K infraction.
He would join Valtteri Bottas – already the slowest in qualifying, and who also received a 50-place grid penalty for using new engine components in his Cadillac.
