This is one of the first cases reported this year in the Nashville-Davidson County area, according to data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

It was not immediately clear whether the child was vaccinated.

There have been at least nine other confirmed cases of measles this year, according to TDOH data last updated on October 23. About a third of the cases involved children aged 5 to 17, and just over half involved adults aged 18 to 49.

East Tennessee has seen the majority of these cases this year, with 67% of this year’s cases – or about 6 of them – occurring there.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect that this is the second case of measles in the Nashville-Davidson County area this year.
