During his speech to the UN General Assembly, scheduled for Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron intends to defend “effective multilateralism” based on coalitions of States and actors capable of producing concrete results, according to the Élysée.
“The United Nations organization is in bad shape” and “the effectiveness of multilateral action today is doubtful,” said the French presidency on Friday during a press briefing, highlighting the progressive disengagement of the leaders of the five permanent members of the Security Council.
