Aaron Sorkin on the new Broadway polish of A Few Good Men
For the first time since its creation in 1989, Some good men returns to the Broadway stage. Playwright Aaron Sorkin worked with screenwriter William Goldman when adapting it into director Rob Reiner’s 1992 film, and Sorkin is still refining it more than 30 years later. “One of the things I love about being a writer is that you can get better as you get older. That’s the opposite of an athlete,” Sorkin said during a press conference at the Vivian Beaumont Theater this morning. “So I asked them if I could do a tweak. I asked them if we could treat this as a new piece, not a rework.” Director Michael Arden, who recently won a Tony for his work on Parade And Maybe a happy endingwelcomed it.
