We carried out a detailed comparative analysis of the Ace Combat 8 flight simulator: Wings of Theve to measure the real consumption of resources of a personal computer. The project is based on the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine with Nanite virtualized geometry and Lumen ambient lighting technologies. Hardware testing was carried out on our reference platform running the Windows 11 operating system using the DirectX 12 graphics API. To eliminate the effect of CPU bottlenecks, the bracket was equipped with a high-performance chip. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D All system resource and frame rate measurements were performed using the MSI Afterburner utility at maximum graphics settings in three separate screen sizes without scaling.
During gaming sessions, software monitoring recorded extremely high RAM consumption. In the real world, total system memory usage reached 31,229 MB, completely eliminating the possibility of smooth gaming on 16 GB RAM configurations. The presence of voluminous volumetric clouds, dynamic weather, and a continuous flow of Nanite’s high-polygon landscapes quickly filled the memory. On 16 GB systems, severe hangs were observed due to constant data flushing to the paging file, making 32 GB the minimum threshold for comfortable performance.

Summary benchmark results confirm high load on all discrete displays benchmarked on NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards and AMD Radeon RX models. The GeForce RTX 5090 configuration consumes 29,337 MB at 1080p, 29,654 MB at 1440p and 29,580 MB at 4K. On the GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, the consumption varies from 27999 to 28803 MB, and with the GeForce RTX 4080 it reaches 29780 MB. On AMD graphics accelerators, the figures were even higher: a system with Radeon RX 7900 Radeon RX 9070 XT, consumption peaked at 30,902 MB.
