Arman Tsarukyan was clearly not amused by Dillon Danis’ clothing choice at the RAF 14 press conference on Thursday.
After exchanging lots of trash talk in a calm manner, Danis stood up to show off his t-shirt when asked what he was wearing. Danis, who is never short of controversy, revealed that he wore a custom shirt featuring Tsarukyan’s teammate and friend Khamzat Chimaev.
“It says Khamzat is my dog,” Danis replied. “And there’s a picture of him without a beard.”
A second later, Tsarukyan rose from his seat and charged at Danis, seeking to either silence the ever-outspoken grappling veteran or perhaps take his shirt off.
Whatever the reason, Tsarukyan’s mad dash toward Danis sparked a huge brawl as dozens of people charged onto the stage, either to support the fighters or to try to keep them separated.
The melee nearly destroyed the stage as RAF officials attempted to take control of the situation, with Danis and Tsarukyan looking for strikes rather than takedowns.
When RAF officials finally took control of the situation, the stage was cleared for the usual faceoffs, but needless to say, Tsarukyan and Danis did not appear again.
Tsarukyan and Danis will meet Friday in the main event of RAF 14, which begins at 9 p.m. ET with full MMA fight coverage.
