AT&T Inc. customers hit by two cybersecurity breaches in 2024 could soon start receiving payments, after a federal judge granted final approval to a $177 million class-action settlement earlier this month.

AT&T (T) has agreed to a settlement ending a lawsuit alleging the company failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to protect customers’ personal information following the 2024 data breaches.

On March 30, 2024, the company said a dataset posted on the dark web contained AT&T customer information. On July 12, 2024, AT&T announced a second data breach in which limited data was illegally uploaded from an AT&T workspace to a third-party cloud platform.

The company denies any wrongdoing. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas approved the agreement on October 2. If no appeal is filed, the estimated settlement date is November 12.
