
Avengers: Endgame beats Avatar for first place at the all-time global box office
Avengers: Endgame regained first place in the all-time global box office rankings.
From the second weekend of Disney Avengers Endgame: Again re-release timed to build excitement for this year’s game Avengers: Apocalypsethe 2019 superhero blockbuster collected $4.4 million domestically and $14.4 million overseas. This brought the overall total sum for Avengers: Endgame at 2.9255 billion dollars, barely enough to exceed Avatar’a total of $2.9237 billion.
After being released in theaters with Twentieth Century Fox in 2009, James Cameron’s film Avatar held the crown for a decade as the world’s highest-grossing film of all time until Avengers: Endgame surpassed it in 2019. Two years later, Avatar reclaimed the crown with its re-release ahead of the 2022 sequel Avatar: The Way of Water.
Last weekend, Endgame: Again »The $86 million worldwide haul made it the second worldwide re-release ever, behind only 2012’s. Titanic 3D reissue. End of the game: Again took the top spot at the domestic box office in its first frame with $26 million, landing atop last weekend’s crowded market that included newcomers such as Paramount’s Brad Pitt, led by Heart of the Beastwith Robert Pattinson of A24 Prime time and DreamWorks Animation Forgotten Island.

The all-star cast included Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner.
The success of the re-release is a promising sign for the big budget doomsday. The Russo Brothers return to direct the next MCU film which hits theaters on December 18, the same day as Warner Bros. just as lively Dune: Part Three.
