Drake Maye bounces back as Patriots upset Bills
After a lousy start to the season, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye bounced back today.
Maye went to Buffalo and played very well in a hostile environment, completing 22 of 37 passes for 269 yards, with three touchdowns, plus some big plays with the ball, as the Patriots won 29-26. Maye did throw an interception, but it wasn’t his fault, as it bounced out of receiver Romeo Doubs’ hands before the Bills got it on a lucky deflection.
The game-winning touchdown was scored by Patriots receiver Efton Chism, who made a sensational dive into the end zone with 1:50 left in the fourth quarter.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen scored another rushing touchdown, his seventh of the season, which made him the all-time leading touchdown scorer in Bills franchise history, putting him ahead of Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas. But other than that play, Allen didn’t do anything with his legs, nor did he make as many big plays with his arm as Bills fans are accustomed to.
The Bills still sit in first place in the AFC East with a 3-1 record, but the 2-2 Patriots showed today that they still have a lot of fight left in them.
