Several people were shot at a townhouse in the Arlington View neighborhood near Columbia Pike.
The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. in the 1600 block of 10th Street S. Initial reports suggested at least two people were shot and others were scratched or injured in a panic after someone opened fire during a large party at a large house.
So far, no life-threatening injuries have been reported, although one of the shooting victims was seriously injured, according to police.
A total of three people were transported by ambulance to local hospitals, Arlington County police said on social media. Two injured people then “reported” to a hospital.
Virginia State Police and a police helicopter from another jurisdiction assisted county police in searching the area. Police remained on scene to investigate and question witnesses.
The suspect fled on foot and remains at large, police said.
“Expect continued police activity and avoid the area,” ACPD said.

The Arlington County Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at a home in the Arlington View neighborhood in the early morning hours of September 26, 2026.
At approximately 2:54 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 10th Street S. for reports of gunshots being heard. Upon arrival, officers located several people with gunshot wounds inside a home and began providing aid. Medics transported three victims from the scene and two other victims self-reported to the hospital. One of the victims, an adult woman, was seriously injured and is in stable condition. The other victims, two adult men and two women, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect left the home after being involved in an argument at a house party. He then returned, brandished a gun and fired several rounds, injuring the victims, before fleeing on foot. Officers canvassed the area with the assistance of a police helicopter and a K9, but did not locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a black man wearing jeans.
This appears to be an isolated incident and the investigation has not revealed any ongoing threat to the community.
