Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton to have surgery for dislocated ankle, out 3-4 months
Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton underwent further tests on his injured ankle Monday and they confirmed he will need surgery to repair a dislocation.
According to multiple reports, Thornton will have surgery this week and is expected to be out for 3-4 months while he recovers from his injury. The shorter end of this window leaves open the possibility that he could return during the playoffs if the Chiefs return after missing the playoffs last year.
Thornton’s injury occurred when he was tackled at the end of a 55-yard catch in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs’ 30-27 victory. Thornton also caught two touchdowns earlier in the game and finished the day with five catches for 111 yards.
With Thornton out and the Chiefs missing a deep threat, it’s no surprise that Sunday also brought a report that the Chiefs are interested in a Tyreek Hill reunion. Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Monday that the veteran could sign with a team in the coming days.
