Christa Pike was on a ventilator, unconscious after botched lethal injection, lawyers say

Christa Pike’s lawyers said Friday that she was placed on a ventilator and was unconscious after Tennessee’s failed attempt this week to execute her by lethal injection.

In a court filing, lawyers alleged that Tennessee officials failed to follow their own lethal injection protocol as they attempted to execute Pike with pentobarbital. The execution team acted incompetently and demonstrated “deliberate indifference to his basic medical needs,” they wrote.
