Cops called to Florida youth football game to deal with parents of 3-year-old football prodigy
Police were called to a youth soccer field in Florida Saturday morning and, according to a police report, it’s because a 3-year-old is too good for a 5U soccer league.
According to Winter Park, Florida, police and an i9 Sports league official called officers Saturday morning asking for help resolving an “issue between league officials and a player’s parents.” In an audio recording obtained by the New York Post, league official Thomas Hayes told a dispatcher that one of the parents was “really, really disruptive.”

“It’s like following me around, insulting me in front of everyone here. I want to end it,” Hayes explained, before adding, “Can you have someone come quickly?”
What caused this drama in the first place? Based on information obtained by the Post, it was Hayes who revealed that other parents were upset about the 3-year-old’s playtime. The kid is so good. The report goes on to state that Hayes told the family that their son would no longer be allowed to participate in the league due to his behavior during the “disruption” and that they would receive a refund.

The police say this is all out of their control. They say it’s now a civil matter.

“The league requested family leave and offered to reimburse the family for league expenses. Shortly after arriving, the league manager asked officers to communicate with the family because he did not want to cause a disturbance. The family said the game was over and they were leaving,” Winter Park police said in a statement.

Is i9 using the “disruption” angle as cover to tell the family to move on? It’s not clear because i9 didn’t provide details. An attempt to reach company executives Monday was unsuccessful. OutKick was asked to send a message via the company’s media inquiry link. Calls to the Winter Park office were unsuccessful and the league mailbox was full.

The parents claim the boy was expelled because he was too good. From the video evidence, there is no doubt that the child can move the ball accurately. In a league full of newbies, it’s Pelé.
