Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer sharply criticized his offensive play following Sunday’s 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro.
“I give it an F,” he told reporters.
The Cowboys will feel like they let one slip away in Brazil.
A controversial pass interference call against the Ravens gave Dallas the ball at the Baltimore 2-yard line with just 23 seconds remaining, with the Cowboys trailing by three. But on the ensuing plays, Prescott threw an incompletion, rushed two yards after being forced out of the pocket and threw another incompletion out of the side of the end zone despite looking like George Pickens was open.
The Cowboys settled for a field goal, expecting to escape in overtime. But Brandon Aubrey’s touchback gave the Ravens the ball at their own 35 and Lamar Jackson quickly completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers before calling a timeout with just a second remaining. Tyler Loop then made a 56-yard field goal, giving Baltimore the victory.
“I’m extremely disappointed right now because of the pain in this locker room,” Schottenheimer told reporters. “…It’s been a really cool journey, I just wish I had a win. This team is going to stay together because of the men in this room.”
Prescott told reporters after the game that the Cowboys should have been able to finish the game on their final offensive drive:
The Cowboys are now 1-2 on the season with a matchup against the surprisingly winless Houston Texans next week.
