Madonna’s Acceptance Speech Sparks Response From Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter has cheekily hit back at claims her team failed to respond urgently to a request from Madonna.
Madonna hilariously called out the “Espresso” singer as the two accepted the award for Best Collaboration at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night for their song “Bring Your Love.”
When the 68-year-old explained how the song was created, she shared that after waiting five days for Carpenter’s team to respond, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
“Five days,” Madonna said dryly, eliciting “ooohs” from the audience.

“I sent him a DM,” the “Like A Prayer” singer shared as Carpenter laughed. “It’s a true story,” she replied, “and a few weeks later we were in the studio together.”
“I love working with you guys because you guys are so professional, and these days it’s really hard to find professionals to work with,” Madonna added, before Carpenter stepped in to defend her team.
“My team is shitting itself behind the scenes,” Carpenter said in a moment that was bleeped out on the show.
“My team responds, just so everyone knows. They respond to people, but I respond faster,” the 27-year-old said to applause from the audience. “So a direct line to me is always the best way to get in touch.”
Madonna kissed the singer, then said the two were “going to go back and have a drink or something.”
“Um, everyone – Madonna!” Carpenter said, drawing additional applause for his iconic collaborator as the two left the stage hand in hand.
