A divorce expert has gone viral for claiming men are “using poop as a weapon”, causing a major stink in the battle of the sexes.
Olivia Howell, author of “Divorce Happens,” claimed in a controversial article that men use the bathroom for extended periods of time to avoid spending time with their families and to escape life’s many responsibilities.
“A husband walks in the door as a contributing member of a family unit, closes it behind him, and immediately becomes a private citizen,” she wrote in a Sept. 18 Substack article.
“See, the problem is this: In theory, a basement husband can be told to go upstairs. A garage husband can be interrupted. A workout can be postponed. Headphones can be removed. A hobby can be negotiated. The bathroom is different because you can’t reasonably deny another human behind access to the toilet. ‘I have to go to the toilet’ is one of the most powerful phrases available to a person who lives with other people,” Howell wrote.
This shitty behavior, she claimed, was aided and abetted by humanity’s development of the smartphone.
“Now a man can disappear with an iPhone and who the hell knows. He could be reading Reddit, checking the stock market, watching a 45-minute YouTube video about electric guitars, arguing about the Mets, playing a game, watching porn, responding to emails, or maybe, just maybe, he’s suffering from an intestinal attack,” Howell said.
“This is the genius of the bathroom as a domestic escape hatch: It comes with almost unlimited plausible deniability,” Howell wrote.
The article caused a stir on social media, sparking anger because it appeared to have castigated men for something they sometimes simply have to do.
“Women don’t even want you to poop,” one dismayed X user wrote in a viral post.
“Today I learned that there is a new tool that the patriarchy is using to continue to enslave women. ‘Weaponized poop,'” one poster on the platform joked.
“Damn this article is crazy, I especially like this part where the women seem to SMOKE that a man in the toilet can’t be bothered,” said one responder in a thread on X.
“How can you even take feminism seriously at this point,” another X poster chimed.
Others made the author and subject the butt of their jokes.
“Poop is my weapon and Taco Bell is my ammo. I’m God’s strongest soldier OORAH,” one joker posted on X.
“If your husband uses stool as a weapon by standing there for hours, don’t overreact. He will get hemorrhoids. The anger is with God, not us,” another poster wrote.
Howell, a mother of two, separated from her husband in 2019.
