Energy. The government is “working towards a renewal” of fuel aid and the energy check

The government is “working towards a renewal” of aid for the sectors most exposed to rising fuel prices and is also considering renewing the energy check, intended for the poorest, in the next budget, government spokesperson Maud Bregeon announced on Monday.

“The government is working on a renewal of aid for the most exposed sectors (…), for those who consume the most fuel, because behind them are jobs (…) they are the salaries of the French”, declared on LCI Maud Bregeon, also Minister Delegate for Energy. This aid, intended for the most exposed sectors of activity (farmers, construction, transporters) and low-income workers who are heavy commuters in the face of rising prices linked to the conflict in the Middle East, expires on August 31, while fuel prices remain above the symbolic bar of 2 euros per liter.

Furthermore, “we will propose the renewal” of the energy check in the 2027 budget, she added. “This check will be renewed. We will in any case propose the renewal of this aid in the 2027 budget, because we are at a time when the price of energy is particularly high and because, once again, we are on targeted aid which is aimed at French people who particularly need it”, especially “to go to work”, she declared.

Aid extended until the end of August

In May, Sébastien Lecornu made a series of announcements related to the increase in fuel prices, due to the war in the Middle East. Thus, the following were extended until the end of August: aid for the purchase of fuel in the road transport sector; help for “heavy rollers”; aid for the purchase of fuel for fishermen and farmers.

In March, the government indicated that 700,000 additional households would be able to benefit from the energy check, this aid intended for the poorest to pay their electricity, gas or fuel bills. Until now, 3.8 million households automatically received this check from 1er april.
