Ex-boyfriend charged in death of Nathaly Ramirez on Bronx balcony
ALLERTON, Bronx (WABC) — A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Bronx mother who was killed after she and her infant daughter were pushed from a 15th-floor balcony, police said.
Investigators said police arrested Angel Carrasco around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving information about his whereabouts.
Carrasco said nothing Thursday afternoon as detectives led him out of the 49th Precinct police station while a gathered crowd heckled him.
He appeared to be smiling for the cameras.
Angel Carrasco, accused of fatally shoving his ex-girlfriend from a Bronx balcony, was walked out of the police station on Thursday afternoon and apparently smiled as he was booed by a large crowd.
Carrasco said nothing as detectives led him Thursday from the 49th Precinct police station while a gathered crowd heckled him.
“I told him he’ll get his turn in prison. And he’ll be like the little girl – like what happened to the other girl: death. That’s what he deserves,” said Sandra Guzman, a Bronx resident.
Carrasco faces charges of murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and assault.
Police said Carrasco’s close friend went to the 49th Precinct and told detectives where Carrasco was hiding. Carrasco was arrested by members of the Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Police say Carrasco pushed his ex-girlfriend, Nathaly Ramirez, 23, from a balcony at the Allerville Arms building in the Allerton section of the Bronx while she was holding their 8-month-old daughter early Tuesday morning. Ramirez died from her injuries.
The child survived and was reported in stable condition Thursday. Police said the girl improved enough to be transferred by helicopter from Jacobi Hospital to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Glen Oaks for specialized treatment.

Police said there was a documented history of domestic violence involving the couple. In January, Carrasco was accused of slapping Ramirez during an argument involving his ex-girlfriend. Days later, he was charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into Ramirez’s apartment while he was looking for her.
Ramirez’s death brought renewed attention to domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Her photo has now been added to a wall honoring victims of domestic violence.
“It’s a very painful moment today when we hung up on Nathaly,” said Stephanie McGraw, founder and CEO of WARM, a domestic violence organization in Harlem that works to help victims.
McGraw said his organization would have helped Ramirez and her daughter if they had been contacted.
“We wouldn’t have asked any questions. We would have gone in, we would have packed her up, we would have taken her out and made her safe,” McGraw said.
