Giant iPhone Duo installations spotted at Apple Fifth Avenue ahead of launch

Although the iPhone Duo won’t launch until Friday, preparations are already underway at Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York for the big day. Here are the details.
Apple Fifth Avenue prepares for the launch of the iPhone Duo
As spotted by @LChenlz on X, Apple has begun installing several large rectangular structures around the store’s iconic glass cube entrance.
The installations are still hidden under black fabric and white protective packaging, but their shapes strongly suggest that they could be giant iPhone Duo models.
In recent years, Apple has celebrated the launch of new iPhones with special displays and decorations at its flagship stores.
In 2024, the company lit up the Fifth Avenue glass cube in Apple Intelligence colors for the iPhone 16 launch, while last year it installed giant “Pro” and “Air” displays in several locations.
Most recently, Apple decorated the Fifth Avenue cube in burgundy, silver and blue to celebrate the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro last month.
Interestingly, there doesn’t appear to be a line outside Apple Fifth Avenue yet, although customers have reportedly already started lining up at other stores.
As 9to5Mac reported earlier today, Apple confirmed that its U.S. retail stores will have a limited number of iPhone Duo units available to walk-in customers on Friday, while stores in several other markets, including mainland China, Japan, and France, will only offer in-store pickup for orders placed online.
Although Friday’s launch is still a few days away, check out 9to5Mac’s in-depth review of the iPhone Duo, which went live earlier today.
Update: Here is another overview of the displays being put in place:
