Another Bachelor Nation couple bites the dust. In a surprising twist, The Golden Bachelor Season 2 winner Peg Munson has announced her split from Mel Owens. On October 21, Munson posted a video about the breakup and how she is doing today.
First, Munson apologized for not speaking out sooner about the end of her relationship with Owens. She admitted that “it’s been a really tough 30 days for me.”
She continued: “As many of you know, I continued The Golden Bachelor hoping to find love, and I did, and you know, for that, I’m grateful. I had to make the difficult decision to end this relationship, and sometimes, even when there is love, it doesn’t turn out the way we hoped. So for now, I’m just focusing on healing my heart and myself, my health, and looking forward to the next chapter.
Munson closed her Instagram announcement video with, “I really wish Mel well and I’m so grateful for this experience. I’m grateful for the memories, and most of all, I’m grateful for you on this journey with me, and all the wonderful DMs I’ve received, and all the messages I’ve received, and all the kind words of love and support.” Owens has yet to address the issue of the split.
Owens and Munson met on season 2 of The Golden Bachelor. They did not get engaged by the end of the season, which aired in November 2025, but Owens gave Munson a ring that symbolized their commitment to each other.
“I have a ring. It represents our commitment to love, to give us time to discover, together, what our future holds,” Mel said as she presented the jewelry to Peg. She replied: “I agree. I think it would be absolutely wonderful. We’re on the same page with that.” When Munson appeared on the Happy Hour for Singles podcast in September 2026, she revealed that she was not ready to get engaged.
Munson captioned her shared video: “Sometimes love is real, but the outcome isn’t what you hoped for. I’m incredibly grateful for this journey, the memories, and the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown me. Right now, I’m taking time to heal, focus on my health, and embrace the next chapter of my life. Thank you for being by my side this year. Your kindness means more than you know. It’s not not the end of my story. It’s the beginning of a new chapter.”
