UPDATED October 2, 2026, 11:39 a.m. PT: PEGI has apparently updated its website to remove the age rating for GTA 6.

The PEGI 18 page – which IGN reported included what appeared to be new details about GTA 6 – is no longer available. In its place is a blank listing that says: “The requested page could not be found.” Users on X/Twitter screenshotted and shared an image of the list and continued to share its contents on social media. IGN has contacted PEGI for comment.

ORIGINAL STORY: GTA6 received a PEGI 18 age rating, revealing mentions of “decapitation”, the ability for players to snort cocaine at any time, “scenes of sexual fetishes” and much more.

The update, available on the Pan European Game Information Board website, gives players a relatively detailed description of Rockstar Games’ megaton video game ahead of its November launch. PEGI 18 rating arrives just one day after GTA 6 received its official ESRB ratingwhich, also unsurprisingly, resulted in an “M for Mature”.

The GTA 6 leaderboard describes a story that allows players to take control of “Jason Duval or Lucia Caminos, two criminals involved in a criminal conspiracy following a botched robbery.” He adds that they will work together as they “become increasingly involved in criminal activities” in Vice City, with gameplay that, as we’ve already seen, is comparable to that of Grand Theft Auto.

What’s different about GTA 6 is the unprecedented detail Rockstar has introduced into the game, with previous footage showing an open-world sandbox with enough activities to make up for the 13-year wait. PEGI has also looked into this topic, but there are still new highlights to cover.

The board described the game’s violence as “gory with a high degree of realism”. Some weapons will be more brutal than others, with some being “capable of causing greater damage, such as detailed decapitation and dismemberment.” This time around, Rockstar has made drug use “frequent and heavy”, with players able to consume illicit substances. Cocaine is said to be particularly important in Vice City, with the leaderboard promising that Jason and Lucia will be able to use the substance directly from their inventory, as it can be “snorted directly from their hand at any time.”

The PEGI description of GTA 6 also addressed “strong sexual themes“, which include “nudity, intercourse scenes and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. “There was a lot we knew and some details we didn’t know, but you can read the ‘Content-Specific Issues’ section of the summary in its entirety below.

“This game contains frequent depictions of violence; due to the free-form nature of the game, the player may harm any other characters inhabiting the environment,” PEGI said. “This includes civilians, criminals and authorities. The violence is bloody with a high degree of realism, with some weapons capable of causing greater damage, such as detailed decapitation and dismemberment.

“Drug use is frequent and extensive, with the player able to consume drugs with others and use illegal drugs directly from their inventory. Most notably, cocaine can be carried by the player and snorted directly from their hand at any time.

“There are also strong sexual themes, including nudity, intercourse scenes, and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. At various nightclubs, the player can also pay for private dances, during which the game allows the player to move their hands over the dancers’ breasts and buttocks.”

The PEGI age rating also mentions “other issues”, including that pets can be harmed, but not in the same detail as humans. The word “f**k” also appears prominently in the game, while the word “c**t” only appears occasionally. The description also states that “discriminatory remarks may be heard in television broadcasts and on radio channels.”

Finally, GTA 6 reminds players that they will have the option to purchase in-game items, although it is still unclear what this entails. In August, it was announced that Rockstar not include microtransactions or generative AI in the game.

GTA 6 is still on track to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. You can find out more at how Rockstar stepped up its marketing tactics hereand you can see what we learned from some new screenshots here. While we wait for further updates, you can read the interview and preview from IGN.
