Hayden Panettiere received welfare check a week before death: report
Police reportedly conducted a welfare check at Hayden Panettiere’s West Hollywood apartment a week before the actress’ tragic death in August at the age of 36.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received a call at 10 p.m. on Aug. 9 from a person requesting a welfare check for a woman at the residence, according to the call obtained by Us Weekly.
The caller was “concerned” that the white woman – who was not identified in the redacted report – was “not answering her phone.”
The call was about Panettiere, a source told the outlet, saying Panettiere was “unresponsive to many people around him and there was concern.”
When police arrived, they were allegedly told the woman “was sick all day and wasn’t feeling well,” according to the redacted report.
The source told Us Weekly that Panettiere’s boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, answered the door.
Additionally, the insider claimed that “after being hospitalized a week before her death,” the “Heroes” alum “informed a friend who came to check on her that Brian had taken her phone.”
Page Six reached out to Panettiere’s rep and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The 911 report also revealed that police responded to Panettiere’s Los Angeles home twice in 2025, according to Us Weekly.
The first incident occurred on August 4, 2025, when officers were reportedly alerted that a white man wearing a green polo shirt, sweatpants and no shoes was on the third floor of the apartment complex and attempting to enter a unit.
However, the unidentified man had “left the scene” by the time police arrived on scene, only to be seen entering and leaving the apartment complex a few hours later.
Police were also called to Panettiere’s apartment on September 8, 2025, regarding an “ongoing problem” with an unidentified white male who was in the building’s garage and “refusing to leave.”
Less than two hours later, authorities made contact with a white man and a white woman and reported that the man “grabbed a few things and then left.”
Panettiere died from the toxic effects of several drugs, including fentanyl, at a South Carolina Airbnb on August 16.
Hickerson — who previously admitted to being violent toward Panettiere and was arrested several times — was at the scene when she died.
As Page Six previously reported, Panettiere secretly entered rehab weeks before her drug-related death.
The “Nashville” star spent “two or three weeks” in a treatment center in Malibu, her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a report from the Greenville County coroner’s office.
Page Six also reported that Panettiere reconnected with Hickerson weeks before his death.
The former child star reportedly kept her pals “in the dark” about the relationship due to “shame.”
