Here are the House races left on the map: NPR
Democrats are poised to hold a strong majority in the next Congress. Final numbers are still being determined and several races are still pending.
A few in California are contested by two candidates from the same party. So it is clear which party will occupy the seat, even if it is not clear who will win. Others are too close to call or there aren’t enough ballots counted to know which candidate will win. In many parts of the country, counting votes takes some time. This is normal and expected.
Here’s where things stand in the races waiting to be called in the House by the Associated Press:
In the Senate, there are two outstanding races, Alaska and Mississippi. Because Alaska uses ranked-choice voting and no candidate in the four-way race received a 50% majority in the count, it could proceed with another round of counting later this month. Mississippi uses a more traditional voting system, but large numbers of provisional ballots — called affidavit ballots in the state — take time to be counted. Less than 2,000 votes separate the top two candidates in this race.
