Here’s How I Fix iPhone Duo Kickstand Problem, Without the Bulk

If you’re like me and bought an iPhone Duo, you’re probably a little disappointed with the options available on the market for putting it on a table. Apple’s $129 official folio with kickstand is expensive, flimsy, and interferes with the exterior screen. MagSafe wallets that convert into kickstands are too tall for the back of the phone, and there aren’t many good third-party cases yet.
That said, the perfect option for an iPhone Duo kickstand may have been hiding all along.
The reason I say it’s hidden in plain sight is because this accessory isn’t actually designed for the iPhone Duo, it works on all iPhones. This is the PopSocket Low-Pro, a low-profile MagSafe PopSocket with a ring that folds out and serves as a kickstand. It also works like a normal PopSocket if you’re interested.

This PopSocket has some advantages on iPhone Duo:
- It is sturdy enough to hold the phone on a table, even when unfolded
- It’s thin enough that MagSafe charging can pass through it (okay, you’ll generate a little extra heat)
- The extra magnetic force of the PopSocket actually allows an unfolded iPhone Duo to stay on a MagSafe mount without sagging too much
On the last point, some iPhone Duo reviewers may have heard you say that the phone can’t really work on a MagSafe stand when unfolded, because the weight of the left half of the phone pulls it down. I’m happy to report that this PopSocket largely fixes this problem. This will still slip slightly over a longer period, but it’s enough to make the experience usable.
I’ve tested this on several of my MagSafe mounts and the slippage issue is improved across the board when using the PopSocket Low-Pro.

Conclude
My favorite benefit of the PopSocket Low-Pro is the fact that it significantly improves the iPhone Duo experience while still allowing you to rock the phone without a case. Given that the iPhone Duo is already 11.3mm thick when folded, I wasn’t excited about the idea of adding even more bulk to the phone.
The Low-Pro is really discreet and can’t really be felt when you hold the phone. It sticks out a little less than the camera bump.
If you want to purchase a PopSocket Low-Pro, you can purchase one on Amazon for $36-40 depending on the color option you want. Navy, Gun Metal, Black, Electric Fuschia, Teal, Carbon Lattice, Mint and Tortoise are available for $40, while Lilac and Orange colors are available for $36, a 10% discount.
