Hollywood takes on Big Tech
LOS ANGELES – Hollywood is turning to Big Tech.
In a series of films arriving this fall, the industry presents Marc Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, Elon Musk And Elizabeth Holmes as crooked, irresponsible, cowardly, cruel or worse – villains on a new front on screen in the reaction against the power of Silicon Valley.
And the pile-up may not stop there.
“There is a fundamental feeling – a widespread feeling among most people – that these mega-giant tech companies don’t really care about them. » Tom Rothmanpresident and CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, told POLITICO. “I don’t think there’s ever been a time in human history where so much power has been concentrated in so few huge, growing companies – they’re bigger than governments. And one of the important roles that Hollywood has often played is to hold power to account.”
