The big news Tuesday for the Seattle Seahawks was the decision not to sign veteran running back Joe Mixon to the practice squad after administering a physical to the 30-year-old former two-time Pro Bowler.

However, the Seahawks made official a different roster move that was reported Monday, namely the signing of Robert Henry Jr. from the Washington Commanders practice squad.

Henry went undrafted out of UTSA in the spring before signing with the Commanders, but failed to make it out of training camp at age 53 and was waived on roster cuts. He now joins the only team Washington beat in 2026 with a real opportunity to contribute in the coming weeks with 2026 first-round pick Jadarian Price on injured reserve and George Holani having been ineffective at times.

To make room for Henry on the roster, the Seahawks waived safety AJ Finley for the second time in six weeks. Finley failed to earn a spot on the 53-man roster during training camp, signing with the practice squad after being waived. However, injuries in the secondary forced Seattle to make several moves to have the necessary depth to operate, and Finley was promoted to the active roster before the regular season opener against the New England Patriots.

This could easily be considered good news for the team when it comes to Ty Okada, who on Friday was a full participant in practice for the first time this season and could mean a return to the lineup for Okada is in store against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.

Seattle also created an open spot on the practice squad by moving running back Jacardia Wright to injured reserve from the practice squad. It is not yet clear how the practice squad vacancy will be filled, but Field Gulls will be sure to keep readers updated once it is known who the Seahawks will draft to fill the position.
