Homeowner finds abandoned trailer in her backyard and realizes it’s hiding babies
A Louisiana homeowner was starting her day when she noticed a trailer had been abandoned in her yard. There was something on the trailer covered with a pink tarp, so the woman went out to investigate. She carefully lifted the tarp and was shocked when she found a cage with eight kittens waiting inside.

The woman immediately knew she needed help and contacted the River Cities Humane Society for Cats, and the shelter quickly dispatched rescuers to the scene. The kittens were covered in fleas and appeared to come from different litters, 1 to 2 months old.
“We don’t know how long they were there,” Michaela Taylor of River Cities Humane Society for Cats told The Dodo.

Neither the shelter nor the owner have any idea who abandoned the kittens or how they ended up there.
“We are very grateful that she stopped to check and that we were able to help,” the River Cities Humane Society for Cats wrote on Facebook.

The kittens are doing well at the shelter, growing every day and learning to be simple cats. They won’t be available for adoption for two months and will have plenty of time to continue thriving until then. Once they have received all their vaccinations and are neutered, they will be able to go to their forever home.

“This is a great example of the importance of spaying and neutering,” the shelter wrote. “This is one of the best ways to prevent more kittens from ending up in situations like this. Low-cost options and assistance programs are available locally for those who need help.”
