The husband of a doctor who treated the royal family has appeared in court to be charged with murder after he was found dead at his home near the Sandringham estate.
Mark Cain, 45, of Fern Hill, Dersingham, was arrested after the body of Dr Hannah Cain was found at his address in Fern Hill in the early hours of Sunday.
Dr Cain was hosting a sleepover for his children’s friends at the time of his death, according to locals, it was reported.
Cain appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning wearing a black jumper. He spoke only to state his name, address and date of birth, and was not asked to plead guilty.
Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon told the court the ambulance service contacted police at 2.25am on Sunday and Dr Cain was then “found in an upstairs bedroom, not breathing, unconscious”.
She said an autopsy “revealed that a blunt force injury had been inflicted on the right side of his head, also an injury that could suggest neck compression.”
“There were children on the property at the time,” she said.
The mother, 45, known professionally as Dr Hannah Terry, was listed as a member of the practice team at Grimston Medical Center in King’s Lynn, which has served the royal family for years.
The doctor was on call for the royal family and had treated several notable people, including Queen Camilla, during his stay at the Sandringham estate. The Sun reported.
Sources told the newspaper that King Charles and Queen Camilla had been informed of his death.
The practice was closed Monday and Tuesday due to “extremely difficult circumstances affecting our training team.”
In a social media post, he said: “We apologize for the disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding at what is a very difficult time for our colleagues. »
Local councilor and GP Pallavi Devulapalli described the news as “devastating”. She wrote on
“I’m really having a hard time understanding what happened.”

Patients and residents paid tribute to Dr. Cain and left flowers and cards at the practice and near his home this week. One woman, Wendy Robinson, said: “I still can’t believe what happened to our GP.
“Fly high and sleep well, you never deserved this, a kind soul taken too soon.”
“I hope you can see your stuffed animal, flowers and card that my husband and I left on the bench at Grimston Medical Center.”
According to the website of a business Dr Cain ran, called Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, she has been a qualified doctor for over 15 years and a GP for eight years.
Dr Cain describes himself as a “caring and professional doctor” who continued his work as a GP alongside his cosmetics business.

Police say her family have asked for privacy and are being supported by specialist officers.
Michael Devaney of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: “The CPS has decided to prosecute Mark Cain for the murder of Hannah Cain following a police investigation into an incident at her home in Dersingham.
“We have worked closely with Norfolk Police during their investigation.
“Our hearts go out to Hannah Cain’s family at this time.”
On Sunday, Detective Inspector Alix Wright of the Norfolk & Suffolk Major Investigation Team said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and are working to establish the exact circumstances of the woman’s death.
“I would ask anyone who thinks they have information that could assist our investigation to please share it with us.”
