Intergalactic: the heretic prophet tests what Naughty Dog is capable of, teases Troy Baker
Troy Baker teased this Intergalactic: the heretic prophet “tests the limits” of what Naughty Dog is capable of, telling fans they’ll be “blown away.”
The Last of Us actor, who is also featured in the studio’s new sci-fi adventurespoke about what the studio is planning during an appearance at Ottawa Comiccon in Ontario, Canada, earlier this month. The images from his panel were captured and shared on YouTube before the clips made the rounds on social media today, but the highlight of the hour-long discussion was Baker teasing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
“You’re going to be blown away,” he said. Covering his mouth and closing his eyes, he added, “You’re not ready. You’re not ready. It feels so good.”
Baker noted that, as previously announced, Naughty Dog recently filming performance capture wrapped for the studio’s new IP. Of all the things to draw attention to, it’s star Tati Gabrielle and her work as the main character, Jordan A. Mun.
“I don’t know how (writer-director Neil Druckmann) found two amazing actors,” he added, referring to the casting of Ashley’s Johnson as Ellie in The Last of Us. “He found Ashley for Ellie, and he found Tati for Jordan. It’s like what? How do you do that?
“She’s the spiritual successor. There’s so much about Jordan and this Intergalactic game that feels like…man, I feel it all. I feel Uncharted, I feel The Last of Us, I feel something new. They’re testing the limits of what this studio is capable of. Everything I’ve seen, they’re delivering, and it’s going to be amazing.”
We know very little about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet since Naughty Dog first released it. revealed at The Game Awards 2024. Druckmann called the new game “amazing“in 2025, and later the same year, it joked that he “bootcamped” Gabrielle over the hate the studio received regarding The Last of Us Part 2. He also said that he was stepping away from HBO’s The Last of Us to focus on developing the project.
Even if he calls her the “most ambitious game” the team has made to datethe only real glimpse we saw came in this first trailer. Although there is no firm release date, like Naughty Dog Status report on no-shows And it lasts seven years without a new game releasethere is at least some reason to believe that we will learn more in the not too distant future.
We knew Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet would miss 2026, but rumors swirled that developer PlayStation was eyeing a 2027 launch. The conclusion of work on performance capture last month means progress is also moving steadily forward. The Last of Us Part 2 reached a similar step a year before its 2020 launch in 2019, so if the team follows the same trajectory, there is at least hope of learning more in the coming months.
Unfortunately, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not have an official launch schedule at this time. In the meantime, The Last of Us Day 2026 gave fans a little something to chew on while waiting for the series to return. The future of the series is also something Baker touched on during his convention appearance.
“We’ll see,” he said, crossing his fingers.
