iOS 27.2 has three new changes added this week

iOS 27.2 will be released to all users soon, but Apple continues to introduce new updates with each beta release. Here are three changes added to iOS 27.2 this week.
#1: Message settings for the new “Suggestions” feature

The Messages app adds a “Suggestions” feature in iOS 27.2 that was originally intended for iOS 27.0, but was ultimately removed from the Summer Beta.
Suggestions allow you to respond quickly and easily to a message you received. For example, by creating a new calendar event or reminder based on the content of the message.
In iOS 27.2 beta 4, Apple added a new option to enable or disable different types of suggestions. In Settings ⇾ Apps ⇾ Messages ⇾ Suggested actions, you will now find options for five types of suggestions:
- Add to calendar
- Add to reminders
- Add to notes
- Show in Maps
- Flights and packages
#2: New Home app features for smart locks

It was a big week for Apple Home announcements. Joining the HomeView collection, the new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, and Apple Home, the iOS 27.2 beta added a pair of Home app features for smart locks.
As discovered by leaker pdfu, “Lock after closing” is a new setting in the Home app when you have a compatible smart lock. It allows you to choose how quickly your door should automatically lock when closed.
Likewise, pdfu found a new “Door left open” notification option. It allows you to schedule automatic alerts to notify you if a door is left open. You can choose between “Off” or after 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes.
#3: New Apple Music Icons and Design Updates

Apple Music introduced some unexpected design changes in iOS 27.2 beta 4, including a new app icon, changed accent color, and refreshed widgets.
Essentially, Apple removed the brand’s iconic red accent color from the Music app. Now app icons are simply black and white, and widgets also lose their red backgrounds in favor of black.
Additionally, the Music app’s tab bar now uses a blue accent color for the currently active tab (it was previously red).
So far, online reception of these changes seems overwhelmingly negative. It will be interesting to see if Apple rolls back any of these design updates in the future. Although they clearly appear to be part of a larger rebranding effort for Apple Music.
