Jerry Jones on Tony Romo: ‘He’s just getting started’
CBS and Tony Romo recently parted ways, meaning CBS wanted out and this negotiated a settlement of Romo’s remaining contract.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the latest developments regarding his former franchise quarterback on Wednesday.
“Tony is one of the most cherished relationships I have “I love him and I’m sorry that he’s – I’m sorry that it turned out this way this year because I appreciated him so much, in what he could bring to the NFL and, frankly, I was proud of him as a former Cowboy.
“Now, having said that, he’s just getting started. He really is. And he – I say this in all sincerity. He’s just getting started. And he’s definitely made some mistakes. I can’t look in the mirror without seeing what can happen when you make mistakes. But he realizes that there’s an area of his life that he wants to do better in. And that’s been said. to satiation publicly. He has a great opportunity in front of him. I don’t know anyone – period – who has a better future than Tony Romo. And I’m excited for him. Not only is he a great talent, but he’s a hell of a man.
Romo’s next move remains to be seen. There aren’t many high-level jobs broadcasting NFL games, and they’re rarely open for a reason.
Most networks won’t want to buy out a No. 1 analyst’s current contract in order to create a seat for Romo. Additionally, the question arises whether another network will be interested, given the relentless criticism that took place during the final years of his tenure at CBS.
Regardless, Romo is only 46 years old. The OWI incident in Wisconsin will fade away. It’s hard not to think that Romo will return in some capacity, at some point.
